The Girl On The Marble Floor

The polished marble floor of the Grand Royal Hotel reflected the giant crystal chandeliers above. Wealthy guests walked through the lobby in designer suits and expensive evening dresses, carrying context of high social standing. Right near the center pillar, a young girl sat on the shiny floor, resting her back against a marble column. Her clothes were worn out, her shoes had holes, and a dusty canvas backpack sat beside her dirty jeans. She looked completely out of place in such a high-end luxury building.

Victoria Vance walked through the revolving glass doors, her high heels clicking loudly on the hard floor. She was a prominent socialite, married to a rich real estate tycoon, and she treated everyone around her like servant staff. Victoria loved showing off her wealth, often visiting the hotel lobby just to feel superior to ordinary people. As she adjusted her expensive white dress, her eyes landed on the poorly dressed young girl sitting on the floor.

Victoria's face twisted into an expression of pure disgust. She changed her direction immediately and marched straight toward the young girl. The clicking of her heels got faster and louder with every step she took. Several hotel staff members stopped what they were doing to watch the scene unfold. They all knew how mean Victoria could be whenever she felt her high status was being questioned by anything unpleasant.

"Get out of my hotel, filthy street rat!" Victoria shouted, her loud voice ringing through the wide lobby. Guests paused their conversations and turned around to look at the commotion.

The young girl, whose name was Maya, slowly lifted her head. Despite the smudge of dust on her cheek and her messy hair, her eyes were calm and completely fearless. She looked straight at Victoria without blinking or flinching. Maya did not cry, nor did she cower away like most people expected someone in her position to do.

Victoria took another step forward, annoyed by the girl's quiet defiance. "Did you hear me? You're ruinous to garbage! People like you don't belong in a place like this. You are ruining the view for my high-class guests."

Victoria reached down with her manicured hand and grabbed Maya firmly by the shoulder, trying to shove her toward the entrance doors. The harsh fabric grab sounded sharp in the quiet room. But Maya did not tumble over. Instead, she grabbed Victoria's wrist with a strong grip, stood up straight, and glared right into the older woman's eyes.

"Take your hands off me!" Maya said, her voice steady and clear. The manager standing near the front desk gasped, nervous about a physical altercation breaking out in the middle of the lobby floor.

Victoria pulled her arm back in disbelief, her cheeks turning red with anger. "You dare lay a hand on me? Do you have any idea who I am? My husband has invested millions into this building. I can have you locked up for trespassing before the sun goes down!"

Maya reached into the front pocket of her dusty canvas backpack while keeping her eyes locked on Victoria. The surrounding security guards started moving toward them, ready to grab the poor girl and drag her out. But before anyone could touch her, Maya pulled out a shiny, gleaming object and held it up right in front of Victoria's face.

It was a solid gold VIP membership card, glittering under the warm lobby lights. Engraved on the metallic surface was the official crest of the hotel corporation, along with a unique master control serial number reserved only for the true estate holder.

Victoria froze instantly. Her arrogant expression melted away, replaced by sheer shock. Her eyes opened wide, and her mouth dropped open in disbelief. The sharp breath she pulled in was the only sound in the entire room. The security guards stopped dead in their tracks, staring at the golden shimmer of the card in the young girl's hand.

"Miss, I am the real owner of this entire property," Maya said softly, standing tall and confident on the marble floor. Victoria stumbled back a step, her high heel catching on the edge of her dress as her mind raced to figure out what was happening.
